We are in celebratory mood.  In fact we are in such high spirits that we have decided to mark the occasion by celebrating all week.  We are delighted to announce not one but THREE AMAZING COMPETITIONS!  There is even a special competition for under 12′s.

Competition 1 (Under 12′s)

Art Competition: We are looking for a picture that represents Pebbles Café.  It could be something to do with food or the Café itself.  We will be looking for something imaginative and colourful. Don’t forget that we have colours and paper in the shop, so you can create your entry here or at home.

Prize: €50 Voucher for the Art & Hobby shop

Competition 2 (Facebook)

This one is really simple.  All you have to do is like our facebook page.  That’s it.  The prize is €50 Voucher! If you have already liked our facebook page then you have already entered.

Competition 3 (In the Café)

When you make a purchase in the café fill in your details on the back of your receipt and you will be entered into a draw for one of three prizes….

1. First Prize: €30 Euro Voucher

Once again we at Pebbles Cafe would like to thank our valued customers who have made our birthday celebrations possible.  We love being part of the Greystones community and are delighted that so many of you use Pebbles as your social meeting place.

A very easy receipe with a little bit of rumbling in the store cupboard. This served with Gjams Autumn Chutney is really delish. You have a healthy and tasty veggie dish.You can serve this with a little salad of grated carrott with sesame seeds & pine nuts and  tossed in a little lemon juice with ruby gratefruit and soft cheese say goats or I like cream cheese broken into little teaspoon sizes. Off you go and enjoy.

Lentil and Nut Loaf

• 2oz puy lentils
• 12oz red/orange lentils
• 2oz butter
• 1 large onion, finely diced
• 2 large carrots,finely diced
• 3 sticks of celery, finely diced
• 6 cloves of garlic, crushed
• 1/2 fresh red chilli, deseeded and finely diced
• 2 heaped tablespoons of ground cumin
• 3oz fresh breadcrumbs
• 5oz grated mature cheddar
• 4oz chopped roasted nuts, like peanuts, hazelnuts, pistachios or pinenuts.
• 6 free range eggs

Cook lentils in separate pans, cover with cold water and cook until they begin to split. puy lentils about 12 mins, orange lentils 8 mins. Drain and put into your mixing bowl.

Melt butter in a large saucepan and then add all the diced vegetables, garlic, chilli and cumin. Cook over medium heat for about 5  mins. Remove from heat and add to lentils with the breadcrumbs, cheese, nuts and eggs. Mix thoroughly, then season to taste. Then place mixture into a lined 2lb loaf tin and bake in a pre-heated oven 170c/325f/gas mark3 for 45 mins, until firm to touch. Turn out of tin and slice to serve. this can be eaten hot or cold. Chutney or relish is a good accompaniment.

To celebrate the launch of evening opening at Pebbles Cafe, we are excited to announce a Facebook competition to win a free meal for two.

We are very proud of our Evening Dining Menu. With it Pebbles has become the newest Greystones restaurant.  A great deal of thought has gone into our menu, resulting in a dining experience that is unlike anything else on offer in Greystones or the surrounding area.  Our chef has created a menu that is bursting with flavours and textures to delight your senses.  The friendly, relaxed atmosphere of Pebbles Cafe adds to the dining experience our lucky winner and their guest will enjoy.

How To Enter

Entering the Facebook competition is easy.

1. Click the like button on our Facebook page. (click here to go to the Pebbles facebook page)
2. Change your Facebook profile picture to the Pebbles coffee cup image below. (right click the image and save to desktop, then upload it as your new profile picture).

If you have already liked our Facebook page then you are half way to being in with a chance of winning the competition.

Competition Draw Date

You will no doubt be wondering how long you will need to keep the image of the coffee cup as your profile picture on Facebook.

The draw to select our competition winner will take place on an undisclosed date before 3 June 2011.  At the time of the draw we will pick a winner at random from the list of those who are eligible on our Facebook page.

The Small Print

To enter this competition you must be aged 18 or over and resident in the Republic of Ireland.  The prize is as stated and cannot be exchanged for any other prize.  The cash value of this prize is €0.01. The winner must redeem their prize within one month of winning. By entering you agree to be photographed and to your name and image being used in a promotional capacity by Pebbles Cafe should you be the lucky winner. Family members of employees or suppliers of Pebbles Cafe will be excluded from the competition.  Those excluded are encouraged to change their profile picture on Facebook anyway.  In fact we think it is probably your duty to do so.

Today the long awaited Pebbles Café website finally went live.  We would love to hear some feedback, so feel free to comment on this post.

We have been part of the Greystones social scene since September 2010, when we first opened our doors.  Since our whole business is based around being social (and good food of course) we thought it was about time we had a web presence.
